[Maine-birds] Oystercatchers at Pine Point

I was called into work Sunday morning, but took time to stop at Pine Point on the way in.  About an hour after low tide, I found four oystercatchers almost directly across the Scarborough River from the observation "balcony" at the  fisherman's coop pier.

There was considerable activity higher in the bay up toward the railway bridge.  The bait fish were providing a feast for terns and herons from above and cormorants and lord knows what else from below.

Black-bellied plovers were common, some still in breeding plumage.  A few few willets were present as was one whimbrel, a couple yellowlegs, a clump or two of dowitchers and a scattering of small flocks of peeps, mainly semipalmated.  That was all the time I had.....

Cheers,
BAB
