Spent most of the game tonight looking for Com Nighthawks. I have never seen one at a game here, but it's just a matter of time. I checked all records for eBird and can not believe there are NO records of nighthawks from downtown Portland. Surely somebody has nailed a nighthawk during a Seadogs game??!!
But there was a Conure flying around, especially between the Expo and Seadogs' Stadium. This bird was brilliant emerald green over dorsal and ventral parts of the head and body, with a bright cardinal-red tail, reddest on the under surface of the tail. Over-all size about = to a Blue Jay, long tail, very 'flappy' flight. It was last seen ducking under the bleachers in right field. Anyone birding downtown Portland should watch for it around that football field that's back there. That is, if it avoided dying of fright during the fireworks barrage after the game.
