Comments: D. Anderson Columbus, Ohio Beginning of a great morning. A Merlin came in and landed on in one of the tall Spruce by the Museum. Dead Whale floating on a mooring behind the collage

Merlin (Falco columbarius) 1 This male flew into the to of the Spruce by the museum, sitting briefly before a molting American Crow dislodged him and it flew off to the west over the campus

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) 2 Nest on Lookout Point has one confirmed nestling. As we  watched through the scope, the eaglet was feed by the mother what we thought was a Mammal... perhaps a squirrel, The Adult would occasionally swallow some meat and then feed the chick small pieces. The Adult look healthy with dark marking around it's eye brow.

Comments: D. Anderson Columbus, Ohio RED-THROATED LOON immature and preening in good light allowed us to dissect this birds topography. Excellent bird and adds to a list of Red-throated Loons that have either been found or seen over the last few weeks. One RTLO was found by a local kayak shop on the western side of MDI and taken to a local rehab.

White-winged Scoter (Melanitta fusca) 16 seen towards the mainland White wing bars easily seen but at a scoped distance
Red-throated Loon (Gavia stellata) 1 Black cap was evident neck white with black showing weakly along it's nnack and nape and a distinctly white underbelly.

Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia) 4 recently fledged bird sat in the scope mom played injured and may be the first time I have seen this in Song Sparrow.

Comments: D. Anderson Columbus, Ohio Bobolink are Totally quiet this morning at 10 am. Shape contrast to two days ago when we still had mating flights going on around the field. Savannah Sparrow are still actively calling.
