These past months have had at least 8 Ruby-throats at or around the
feeders at one time. This morning, I went out to be sure the feeder
was full and a male and female swooped by, the female landed so close
to my hand to drink I could feel the heat from her body, while the
male hovered about two feet from my head looking at me. THAT was a
first for me - you can't help but be mercilessly humbled with these
feisty little feathery balls of endurance and beauty - a privileged
moment that won't be forgotten.
