Hi all,
An adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was at Thornhurst Farm late this afternoon within the largest Canada Goose flock of the season to date. I believe this is a different bird from the first one of the season that was last seen almost 2 weeks ago now. Does anyone (Bill Sheehan?) know if the "speckles" on the breast are always symetrical on GWFG? If so, then this is definitely a different bird. Unfortunately, my useful photos of the first bird are all facing left, and today's photos are all facing right. If anyone has photos of the first bird facing right - or obtains photos of the current bird facing left, I would be interested in seeing them.
I did not find any Cackling Geese here today (did not get over to Greely Road), but I did have one of those smaller, dark Lesser Canada-like things.
More surprising were two WHITE-RUMPED SANPIPERS out in the field; very late for an inland bird especially.
