[Maine-birds] Glaucous Gull at Ogunquit

Brad Moser and I saw a gorgeous juvenile GLAUCOUS GULL at the Marginal Way cliff-walk at Ogunquit this afternoon.  The bird flew in and landed on the sand spit right at the start of the cliff-walk where a bunch of Herring Gulls were resting.  The Herrings did not like this visitor's presence one bit and promptly harassed him away.  He flew right along the cliff-walk for a while, giving us fabulous looks.

Due to the recent nor'easter, the ocean was incredibly turbulent today with massive waves and froth.  As a result, the waters near shore were mostly devoid of avifauna, aside from a flotilla of Common Eiders, a couple of Common Loons and Horned Grebes, four Long-tailed Ducks, and some distant rafts of Black and White-Winged Scoters.

Cheers,
