At various spots around Merymeeting Bay today, I ran into 10 diff Bald Eagles, One, at the mouth of Whiskeag Creek, was double-banded (Photos w/ legible band ID.) 2 Adults were hovering together over the spot where a nest in a tall white pine tree came down last fall (strong wind event). Four were at the Eastern River Bridge (Rt 128) where ice-shacks have recently been removed, but where I think IF&W dumps an occasional carcass (road-kill). Three sub-adults were triple-chasing ea other near Little Swan I. All 10 eagles were in close proximity to edges of ice/open water.
Four TVs were teetering over Bath at 3:07.
Northern Shrike No. 19 (for the season) was at the marsh on the Wing Farm Pkwy, Bath, at 3:02.
