[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights and New Arrivals, 4/13-19

Hi all,

My non-FOY-related highlights over the past seven days included:

- 2 Evening Grosbeaks and 2 Purple Finches, our yard in Pownal, 4/14.

- 4 Gadwall, 165 Green-winged Teal, and 6 Horned Larks, Scarborough Marsh, 4/14.

- 1 adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, Jones Creek, Scarborough Marsh, 4/14.

- 1 pair Greater Scaup, Pine Point, Scarborough, 4/14.

- 5 Razorbills, 6 Purple Sandpipers, 8 Red-necked Grebes, and 15 Sanderlings, Reid State Park, Georgetown, 4/18.

- 180 "Yellow" Palm Warblers, 75 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 15 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 13 Eastern Phoebes, etc, Florida Lake Park, Freeport, 4/19 (with Katrina Fenton). 

 

And my personal first-of-years and new arrivals this week included:

- Glossy Ibis: 28 - Scarborough Marsh, 4/14.

- Snowy Egret: 16 - Scarborough Marsh, 4/14. 

- Great Egret: 6 - Scarborough Marsh, 4/14.

- American Pipit (first of spring): 6 - Pelreco marsh, Scarborough Marsh, 4/14.

- Little Blue Heron: 5 - Pelreco marsh, 4/14.

- Pine Warbler: 1 - our yard in Pownal, 4/15.

- Broad-winged Hawk: 135+, Bradbury Mountain Hawkwatch, 4/15.

- Barn Swallow: 1, Bradbury Mountain Hawkwatch, 4/15.

- Chipping Sparrow: 1, our yard in Pownal, 4/15.

- Yellow-rumped Warbler (first of spring), Florida Lake Park (with Katrina Fenton and Jeannette).

- Winter Wren: 1, Hedgehog Mountain Park, Freeport, 4/16 (with Katrina Fenton).

- Northern Rough-winged Swallow: 1, Reid State Park, 4/18.

- Blue-headed Vireo: 1, Florida Lake Park, 4/19.
