[Maine-birds] Yet another Eurasian Green-wing at the Abby

I stopped by the Abby at 1:50 pm today.  Ducks are numbers are diminishing, fewer than 100 total.

I saw another Eurasian Green-winged Teal, my third of the season at this site.

I first noticed a teal with bright yellow face markings at >200 yards distance.  The teal turned and I then saw the white scapular and absence of vertical white blaze on the size.  This individual has the brightest yellow facial markings of the three individuals this spring.  If you're not familiar with yellow facial patterns on teal, check out Sibley; he depicts this difference nicely.  Distant pics taken.

Also present, one Eurasian x American Green-winged intergrade: reasonably bright white vertical blaze and white scaps.  Yellow on face was similar to the other American Green-wings present.

Duck list included:

Canada Goose: 12
Am Black Duck: 40
Mallard: 15
Green-winged Teal: 50
Eurasian Green-wing: 1
Green-wing intergrade: 1
Blue-winged Teal: 2
Common Merganser: 4

no eagles! A first this spring.

Best, Peter
