I had an email from Rob Speirs suggesting I look for a possible tufted duck in this flock. I didn't see this email until tonight, but when I viewed these ducks I did see a duck with very white sides compared to the others. I thought perhaps some sort of variant and since I was on my way to work, figured I would look it up later. Looking at his picture of the tufted duck, I am sure that is what I saw. This is a lifer for me! Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures. On my way home, I stopped there again, but the ducks were gone, just a few Canada geese and a pair of mallards were there.
Perhaps others should be on the lookout for this flock on nearby ponds/lakes.
