Weather:Finally, some warmer, comfortable weather for hawkwatching. A little more scattered clouds and shade than I anticipated, but air temps climbed to almost 60 degrees. It seemed odd having a day with little wind. Standing on the summit took on a whole new feel, and sound. By the last hour however, the sky became dark with full cloud cover, and winds increased from the southeast, as another weather system moves in.
Raptor Observations:Not quite the big day we had hoped for. From a weather, and time of year perspective, today seemed like it had good potential. Hopefully birds are stacking up to the south, and will produce an even more spectacular flight when the conditions are right. Today's birds were scattered around, without any particular flight line developing. The warmer weather brought out a few insects, to the delight of one Kestrel, who was feeding while on the fly.
Non-raptor Observations:36 species were seen and or heard today, including our first of season Hermit Thrush and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
Predictions:Tomorrow should be in the 40's, with cloudy skies. Winds should be out of the N at about 10 mph. There is a chance of precipitation tomorrow.
