Visitors:
Mother's Day had the park pretty jammed at times. 43 visitors in total. I was happy to chat with my pal Ash once again, the Pergergirne enthusiast. Happy hunting bud!

Weather:
Temps were fairly mild with off and on periods of definite T-shirt weather but the winds kept bouncing back and forth between E and SSE which would bring cooler ocean air in from the coast and had people ditching and dawning thicker clothing all day. There were a few periods with stronger gusts. Another great sky with scattered clouds being stretched thin. Heat shimmer would have been an issue if we were looking at distant birds.

Raptor Observations:
Birds were so abundant at times they seemed to block out the sun. Oh, wait, I guess I was daydreaming of times past. It was a very quiet day again but this time even the local activity was mostly grounded. It was quite some time before I added Eagle and Turkey Vulture to the day-list. I'm drawing a blank on what to mention here since it was more of a cloud watching day. Thankfully, in the brief time Derek was up he spotted a high Peregrine to the WSW which circled a few times before crossing the afternoon sun and gliding off to the north.

Non-raptor Observations:
Bird song was fairly quiet again but it was also tough to hear with the Mother's Day crowds. I was able to tally 26 species today despite not much happening. The first Chipping Sparrow that we've seen this season finally made it up the the summit. They have been singing from below but we haven't had them as a visitor up top yet. In the afternoon our first Great Crested Flycatcher was heard. Early on I was able to share the sighting of the first Blackburnian Warbler with another birder, a real charmah'.
