Visitors:Fewer people on this Monday. 8 visitors in total.
Weather:Not a cloud in the sky all day. Temps were pleasant, in the 40's. Winds were not as strong as I thought they would be but there was a definite breeze with some strong gusts from the W and SW. Visibility was good but clarity and colors were diminished and slightly washed out.
Raptor Observations:A good day overall which was mostly a slow trickle of birds throughout the count period. Local first and second year Eagles flying in tandem and some close flybys from 'tails and 'shoulders kept us entertained while we waited on migrants. Our first Northern Harriers showed up which is always a welcome sight.
Non-raptor Observations:Pretty quiet for song birds. Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds seemed to be holding out at a local feeder just outside the park, visible from the summit. The highlight of the day was a new species for the sites patch list which was six Northern Pintail flying over the mountain heading NW.
Predictions:Tomorrow's temps could be scratching at 50 degrees. Winds are again predicted to be SW and a little lighter than today, with a possibility of gusting in the afternoon. Skies should be more conducive to spotting birds with some cloud cover providing contrast for searching eyes.
