Visitors:20 visitors today.
Weather:Brilliant blue skies slowly became slightly milky as high thin cloud cover moved into the area. Winds were much stronger at the summit today, from the NNW, often gusting with a little kick. Temps were in the upper 60's. Visibility wasn't great, with heat shimmer and some haze.
Raptor Observations:It was kind of a bland day of hawk-counting and hawkwatching. The hours blended together and there wasn't much that stands out in my mind about the day. Birds were scattered around today in the strong winds and locals didn't make much of an appearance.
Non-raptor Observations:Very little song this morning even though the winds hadn't picked up much at that point. A Black-and-white Warbler was seen upside down under a branch and a couple of White-throated Sparrows were calling as they moved through the woods near where my thermometer is located. Both species are new for the season. Bird song went silent before noon and with the wind it was hard to hear. Only 21 species were seen or heard today.
Predictions:Tomorrow may have a few more clouds which will help spotting birds if they're flying. Temps will be a little cooler and likely only in the upper 50's. Winds from the NNW are still not ideal but shouldn't be blowing nearly as hard.
