Visitors:5 visitors plus two separate school groups which all convened at the summit at the same time for a brief photo op' and some exploration.
Weather:Skies were overcast for the entire day with dense fog and mist for the first few hours. Visibility was severely limited for about the first half but as the fog receded towards the coast we were left with very clear excellent visibility for another day. We were spotting object at locations we hadn't realized were visible before. We also watched medical staff walking around the Lifeflight helicopter on top of Maine Medical Center. Temps were in the 50's and winds were nonexistent.
Raptor Observations:It took half the day before we found a single raptor in the air and the birds we did see were not up for long and did not migrate N. A handful of Turkey Vultures and a couple Broad-winged Hawks circled around in the early afternoon but soon disappeared again, leaving us with empty skies.
Non-raptor Observations:In the morning a couple mixed species foraging flocks rolled through the trees around the summit, which provided a little song and color for such a grey day. One new bird for the season was out in plain sight. That bird being a Nashville Warbler.
Predictions:Tomorrow's chance of showers looks like it has increased since I last looked. We may be delayed at the start and I hope it clears enough to get some consistent time in. Temps will be cooler and in the 40's with more clouds and winds from the SSE.
