Matt Young and Tim Spahr could use Red Crossbill information from Maine and asked that I pass this along to Maine birders:
Hi Birders, this is my usual Red Crossbill information message--if you're not interested you can stop reading now :)
Red Crossbills have moved into New Hampshire, Maine, NY, and Vermont again this year with evidence of breeding in the last couple weeks. Tim Spahr and I continue to study these birds, and any information in you provide in eBird checklists such as recordings, habitat notes, and indications of breeding would be very helpful to us, as well as other researchers. We are also interested in which 'types' are breeding in what habitat, and even more challenging, if you can determine the flight call type of each member of a breeding pair via a recording that would be spectacularly informative. If anyone has any questions just drop me a line at may6@cornell.edu or info@finchnetwork.org.
Happy crossbilling,
Matt
