We had our first scarlet tanager right out the window this morning, fairly low as things go.

Also, a few days ago, we found a swamp sparrow skulking in and around a rivulet just down our road.

Re: [Maine-birds] Bird List Hacked

Today's spam and malware bots have gotten so sophisticated that this is concerning.  I'm wondering if requiring 2-factor authentication for email senders to the group list might somehow be possible?  If so, it could help weed out the deceptive spam emails, because frankly I think the status quo is just likely to get worse over time.

[Maine-birds] Liberty FOY birds

Great rewards this week and last- with Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks in abundance; the first hummingbird an hour after putting out my nectar feeder on 5/5, and first of the year Oriole shortly after putting out the grape jelly and oranges on 5/6.
Also have been enjoying seeing and hearing "Drink Your TEA!" from the Eastern Towhee that has taken up residence in my yard for the first time ever.

[Maine-birds] Possible Orchard Orioles in Poland

I believe I had a couple of male Orchard Orioles on my oriole feeder here in Poland. When I initially spotted them in the tree, I thought, "Hmm, why are bluebirds interested in that feeder?" and once I grabbed the binocs to get a better look, I realized they were not bluebirds. They had black heads like a Baltimore Oriole, but the orange was more of a deep chestnut/burnt orange color. According to two different field guides and a couple of YouTube videos, these looked a lot like Orchard Orioles. Would that be unusual here? Will get and share pics if I can.
