I'll just add that if you're on Twitter and follow the hashtag #BlackBirdersWeek, you can enjoy/support some wonderful posts being shared by birders of color and raise your awareness of what it's like for them to participate in an outdoor activity like birding--something most of us simply take for granted.

[Maine-birds] Re: Scarborough Marsh Little Egret and Tricolored Heron 6/1/20

I was, sadly, not able to spot these in that area yesterday, but did see a single American Coot in the pannes, which was kind of fun.

[Maine-birds] FOY Cedar Waxwings in Brooksville 5/31

Brooksville Hi all, had a flock of about 10 Cedar Waxwings on Sunday Morning around 0830 on 5/31. Seemed to be gorging on something in my Hawthorn trees before they flew off.

[Maine-birds] Black-headed Grosbeak

Hello All,

I just communicated with someone who was kayaking around St Helena Island off Stonington two weekends ago when his kayaking partner said "is that an Oriole?". He put his binoculars on it and saw that it had Grosbeak features but did not look like any Grosbeak he'd ever seen here in Maine. When they got back from their paddle, they looked up the bird in the bird guide and agreed it was a Black-headed Grosbeak. I'd say pretty good chance it was the same bird seen a few days ago on Beech Hill Rd, near Somesville.

Mid-westerners want to see the ocean, so perhaps this bird bird of the West does as well and will hug the coast like many tourists. So, mid-coast and Downeast birders keep your eyes peeled. You hear that Chris Bartlett?

[Maine-birds] Birding Bowdoin Sand Plain?

Hi all, I'm interested in birding the Bowdoin Sandplain, particularly looking for Upland Sandpiper and Eastern Meadowlark, based on eBird reports. This would be a new site to me (though I birded Brunswick Landing just a bit when the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher showed up last year).

If you can suggest best ways to access the site, times of day, or any other tips, they would be much appreciated.
