[Maine-birds] Tundra Swans—yes

Currently looking at three juvenile Tundra Swans at rel close range from small Bob Fay Memorial Park on n end of Little Ossipee Lake, Waterboro.

Swans are roosting on a tiny rocky outcrop (6' long) close to shore to the immediate south of the park. Birders should be very careful not to spook them.

[Maine-birds] Tundra Swans in Waterboro

I received a 2nd hand report with photos of what appear to be two
juvenile Tundra Swans from Waterboro, ME.

They have reportedly been present for a few days and are being seen at
the far north end of Little Ossipee Pond.

I went to vote this morning and saw 2 or 3 Pine Grosbeak near the VFW Hall in Dexter.

[Maine-birds] Sabattus Pond

This morning there were lots of ducks at Martin's Point. Highlights included two Pintails and one N. Shoveler. Many Hooded and Common Mergansers. A smaller number of Scaup, mostly Greater and some Buffleheads. Way out in the middle of the lake were four unexpected Long Tailed Ducks. I was also happy to see four Rusty Blackbirds feeding on the beach at the south end of the pond. Danny Danforth

Looks like a domestic bantam duck or cross with an old beak injury to me.

I shot over during my lunch break and added a few photos to the checklist below. I have assumed this was a Mallard (domestic type) but would be happy if this was something new and different. I have one photo that shows the contrast in size.
