Comments: Steve and Lynn Pierce family my setter and friends from Earlham College. Steve is a class 1 volleyball coach and a true student of the amazing game of volleyball. When I play the game it is the closest to flying I will ever come to.!! I have been blessed throughout my life to have a healthy body and mind. When you bring together a young flock of like minded leapers and smackers of a rawhide volleyball, you can take on teams like Ohio State, Michigan or Ball State and survive to tell about the . It is interesting to compare a flock of birds to a team of athletic volleyball players. When a flock works together they respond instantaneously just like the quick sets Steve would give to me that were perfectly set for my particular skill set. Thanks to Steve for giving me so many amazingly accurate sets during my junior and senior years. During the three volleyball season I played, we traveled around great swaths of the midwest birding as a group and seeing many wonderful birds through those years. Too bad ebird did not exist.

Protocol: Stationary
Comments: Steve, Lynn and Margaret checked the chick which looked content and not agitated. The chick spent much of the time looking out towards the ocean and neither parent was present.

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) 1 Sitting quietly in the nest looking out to the sea across Frenchman Bay. A well fed eaglet.
Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) 2
Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) 3
Pine Warbler (Setophaga pinus) 1 In the scope at about 80 feet in a White Pine. The male in fading breeding plumage sat and preened for us. The 110 foot pine trees and spruce of the Maine forest provide the nesting habitat for several warbler species, therefore the structure of the Maine forest must be maintained.
