8/13/12 Increasing numbers of winter plumaged Common Loons are showing up in the bay.
Two dark hatching year Bald Eagles were first seen today, (one probably from the Sheep Porcupine nest the other possibly from the Salisbury Cove nest) along the Bar Harbor shore.
Increasing numbers of immature Gannets over the past couple of days.
Several Bank Swallows passed over the boat at the mouth of the bay today.
A Peregrine Falcon was on Egg Rock today.
Six Bald Eagles (2 adult, 2 fourth summer birds, 1 third summer, 1 second summer bird) busily harrassing young Herring Gulls and immature Common Eiders at Egg Rock all day.
Twenty or so hatching year Herring Gulls at Egg Rock. Last year there was 100% mortality due to Bald Eagle predation.
About 200 nearly full sized hatching year Common Eiders around Egg Rock.
Eight White-winged Scoters passing north up Frenchman Bay today 8/13.
