Washington Co, Wally, just back from his bike ride reports Pine Grosbeaks at the junction of Johnson Cove Rd and Calf Point, one was on a utility wire, the others in a crabapple tree (just like Mike Fahey's)! Wally didn't see any adult males in the group.
At Schoppee Point there was a flock of White-winged Crossbills.
And, here on Mt Desert Island, in Town Hill, the Red-bellied Woodpecker put in a brief appearance at a feeder.
I looked hopefully at our Town Hill crabapple but the squirrels have eaten every fruit on it and all that is left are the bugs in the bark, which seem to attract the Hairy and Downy woodpeckers.
