Visitors:
39 people visited the hawkwatch.

Weather:
It was a beautiful, partly cloudy day, with light winds mainly from the northwest and excellent visibility. Given these conditions, it was a bit surprising that there was not more raptor movement going on. The wind direction was probably a factor here.

Raptor Observations:
The majority of migrants were distant today. There was a little push of Bald Eagle movement, with some immature birds moving through and flying high over the summit. Sharp-shinned Hawks and kestrels were moving through slowly and steadily throughout the day. A local Cooper's Hawk was displaying over Eagle Island and surrounding areas.

Non-raptor Observations:
27 bird species were observed from the summit. There were a few flocks of distant passerines and starlings moving through.

Species deemed migrating:
26 European Starlings
10 passerine sp.
5 blackbird sp.
3 American Goldfinches
3 Common Grackles
1 Great Blue Heron
1 Red-winged Blackbird

Predictions:
Tomorrow's forecast looks similar to today, but windier and gusty. Skies are expected to be clear, with northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Windspeed may calm down slightly in the afternoon. It might not be very busy, but conditions look fairly good and it will be a beautiful day to enjoy the mountain and watch the migrants that pass by.
