It is odd about the Tree Swallows. I saw none along the Kennebec R. today between Shamut and Winslow, and by now they should be cavorting over the water on a regular basis. I saw a flock of 75+ a week ago in Belgrade, but they were not present today. Those are the only ones I've seen away from southern Maine so far this year. I hope it does not indicate a reduced population.

Osprey on the nests on each side the Sebasticook River in Benton near the Benton Winslow line on Monday.
While 1 Tree Swallow was seen one day last week in Benton, none have come so far. This is the latest arrival in the last 5 years. The cold weather seems to have impacted their arrival. Normally their are over 10 pair flying around by now.
