I got in what birding could before the nor'easter rolled in.
2/11 - While driving south on the West River Road in Augusta, I briefly observed a Northern Shrike perched at the top of high tree on the roadside overlooking a large stretch of field near the Sydney line.
Later that same date, I got brief looks at 2 Snow Bunting on the snowy tarmac at the Augusta State Airport.
2/12 - I made an early trip to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse where I saw a handful of Black Guillemots (3) and a single Thick-billed Murre out on the rough surf. A flock of Purple Sandpipers (24) endlessly worked the point the duration of my visit. A scattering of different duck species were present offshore including Long-tailed Duck, Black Scoter, and Common Goldeneye.
I stopped into Camden Harbor and saw the usually assemblage of Mallards, American Black Ducks, and Herring Gulls. A Common Loon and a small number of Bufflehead were also present. I briefly visited the Owls Head Lobster bins, but found them and the harbor entirely devoid of gullage.
En route inland, I encountered a flock of 30 Snow Bunting along the roadside in Windsor.
Today, I'm resigned to feeder-watching while I wait out the storm and get some work done. Be safe out there everyone!
