Re: [Maine-birds] redpolls

I still have about 8 left, we'll see if I pick up a few more tomorrow with the storm.  Down from about 30 at the highest.  I did catch them feeding in the tamaracks by the pond with a flock of chickadees, so they are not just raiding the feeders.

Absolutely fun birds. When they get going, they can be almost overwhelming. They've gathered around my house, and for a while, they are quiet. Then, suddenly, BOOM!

After a bit of luck with the Tundra Swan yesterday I had only seen one redpoll at my house yesterday so I was going to say you might have some of mine. It appears they were just not at the feeders in the limited times I was viewing them. They were back on point today and I was able to spend a good 20 minutes sitting on the bench which is about 10� away from them. I have grown to enjoy the easy access though. I hope the next batch is as easy to train. :-)
