Visitors:
11 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
Warm, cloudy day on the summit. Light northwest winds through most of the day, becoming more moderate in the mid-afternoon. Brief band of light rain passed around 1340 (EST) only lasting for about 15 minutes.
Raptor Observations:
Migration activity nowhere near as impressive as yesterday, but still a pretty good day. Most activity was observed before the rain arrived and wind speeds picked up.
Non-raptor Observations:
The morning mountain chorus of birdsong had quite a few more participants this morning, with a heavy passerine movement the previous night. 42 species were observed from the summit. Non-raptor individuals deemed migrating included: 1 Brown-headed Cowbird 1 swallow sp. 3 American Robins 5 Barn Swallows 5 American Black Ducks 9 Cedar Waxwings 49 Yellow-rumped Warblers 64 Tree Swallows
Predictions:
Slightly cooler on the summit than the past few days. Moderate northwest winds through the day. If winds are light enough we may see some birds moving.
