[Maine-birds] Fryeburg 10/10: Mega White-throated Sparrows

This report is a day and a half late, but on Monday evening there were more White-throated Sparrows than I've ever encountered along Mountain Division trail in Fryeburg, starting from the parking lot on Rt. 113 (@mile 46.9) until roughly mile 48 (heading in the direction of downtown Fryeburg).  From 5:50 PM until a half hour after sunset (6:30) there were easily 100, likely closer to 150 along the trail, the train tracks that run parallel to the trail and in the woods on both sides, especially the boggy median strip between the trail and Rt. 113.  The majority seen, by far, were of the tan variety, leading me to think they were mostly juvenile/immature birds.  There were a minimal number of  Juncos feeding with them but the WTSPs were making themselves obvious due to their "tseets" transitioning to loud "pink" calls as they settled into the woods for the night.  I've noticed this evening call transition several times before here.  ALL the way between the two points mentioned there were 1-2 dozen birds within earshot and several within visual range.  By the time we turned around after mile 48.5 and started back toward the parking lot, all calls had ceased as it was after dark, so none were included twice in my estimate.

I will probably not get a chance to revisit Mt. Division trail again until the end of this week, but for anyone who's interested I recommend going during the time mentioned as their evening roosting calls are what really gives their numbers away.

List with 1 audio file:  https://ebird.org/checklist/S120426858 . Due to constant Fryeburg Fair exodus traffic noise on Rt. 113 that night I was unable to get any other decent recordings.
