Was at the plains on Friday and no shrike. Thanks for the update on Brownfield, Eric.

Hello Maine Birders,
I wanted to share that if you plan on going to Brownfield Bog WMA anytime
soon, you better bring your wellies (and insect repellent).
I was there Friday morning and didn't get very far. There were several
people in my group that didn't have knee high rubber boots so we
essentially did a stationary count. The road beyond the dynamite shack had
ankle deep flowing water for long stretches. It was very birdy and we
picked up several of the marquee species directly from the parking area:
Yellow-throated Vireo, Virginia Rail, Pied-billed Grebe and Yellow-billed
Cuckoo. Check out our eBird checklist for the complete list:

Plenty of mosquitoes there too, as expected.
Good birding,
Eric

Thanks for that info, Eric. I was thinking of going there this week, but I don't own a pair of boots like that, so I'll change my plans. I wonder if that Shrike is still being seen at the Kennebunk Plains . . . .
