Near Broad Cove in Cushing with its bill pointing skyward in a most imperious manner. A beautiful specimen with bold vertical strips down the neck. I hope soon to hear its startling call. |

Hello Maine Birders, On a whim I went to check out Eastern River Preserve for the first time. It is a Kennebec Land Trust property in Pittston protecting an oxbow of the Eastern River, where Otter Creek joins the river. It was a worthwhile visit to a pleasant little preserve. My observations can be viewed here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S230506325 On my way back I stopped to confirm an unlikely visitor to a farm pond I noticed on the way in: a "blue goose" (the dark morph of Snow Goose). The little farm pond is on the north side of Kelley Road, just east of Ferns Way (private drive). Images of the goose and a pin for the site can be viewed here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S230569159 Happy Spring, Eric ..................... Eric Hynes (he/him/his) Brunswick, ME |
