[Maine-birds] RE: [augusta-birds] Viles Arboretum ABC bird walk - May 2nd - Migrants have arrived!

I took a walk over lunch time at the Gardiner Waterfront trail and had my FOY Black-and-white Warbler, two Yellow-rumps and a Palm.

The two Yellow-rumps seemed anxious to move on and picked up and flew high up in a northeasterly direction over the river. Guess with the very warm temps they are anxious to get to the breeding grounds ASAP!

Hi Everyone,

I had the pleasure of leading this morning's Augusta Bird Club walk with 12 great birders in our group and another 6 or 7 in another group led by Doug Suitor. The weather cooperated and finally brought in a few migrants. We had 41 species in our group, including 5 species of Warblers. Tomorrow, the club will be back at Viles Arboretum at 7:00 am, weather permitting – and Friday at Hallowell Reservoir Recreation Area – Reservoir Road, Hallowell.

[Maine-birds] Mt. Battie (Camden Hills SP), 5.2.18

Heard our first Black-throated Green Warblers on Mt. Battie this morning, in addition to FOY singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers.

We ran into friends who walk the road often, as we do, and they reported that on their walk a couple of days ago, a Great Horned Owl flew past them.

[Maine-birds] Wells Reserve

Willets are back. Prairie Warbler on the marsh was a nice surprise. Blue-headed Vireo, several Palms and Yellow-rumps, a couple of B&W, pair of kestrels, and on and on. Good morning.
