It is my understanding that there is a fairly significant fire in that area right now. Hoping that they are able to get it under control, that homes in the area are not affected, and that wildlife are OK. I suggest checking news reports (although it is not yet in the news I am sure it will be) before going to bird there.

[Maine-birds] Kennebunk Plains

many Field Sparrows at K. Plains this morning. Also Vesper Sparrows, half a dozen Towhees and one Upland Sandpiper.

[Maine-birds] Mostly white White-throated Sparrow

Had a leucistic (if that's the right term) White-throated Sparrow that was mostly white today in Hallowell, see pictures at: https://ebird.org/me/view/checklist/S45181270

Not sure how unusual these are but it's the first one I've seen.

[Maine-birds] FOY birds in Brunswick

Heard FOY BT Green, Black-and-white, and Common Yellowthroat this morning in the yard/Woods. Other developments: Tufted Titmouse was gathering moss for a nest, and the Red-bellied and Pilested woodpeckers were calling as well.

Spring has arrived like a lion!

on the recreational trail:

White-breasted Nuthatch

calling Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Also yesterday there were many Tree Swallows scarfing bugs on Wassookeag Lake where the ice finally went out. There were a few Cliff Swallows mixed in with the others.
