[Maine-birds] Banded American Oystercatcher

Dear All,
I recently photo'd an American Oystercatcher on Egg Rock in Washington County about 2.5 miles north of Petit Manan Island.  I would appreciate receiving any guidance on how to find out about the banding origin, and figure whoever is doing the study would want to know one of "their" birds has been spotted.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Seth

[Maine-birds]

Today I found a Nikon lithium battery pack near the base of a telephone pole at the Henslow's
Sparrow stake-out in Brunswick.
Please reply if it's yours.

[Maine-birds] Henslow's Sparrow, Brunswick, ME

Today was our third trip to see the Henslow's Sparrows and we got lucky with one of them perching about 60 feet away for a lengthy period of time.  Pictures at my website:  henrymauer.smugmug.com

There are definitely two birds.  Park at the intersection of Pleasant Hill Rd and Casco Rd in Brunswick, ME.  Walk east on Pleasant Hill Rd, towards downtown Brunswick.  Both birds are on the right side of the road.  The easier to see bird is usually between the intersection and the crest of the hill.  The harder to see bird is usually about at the crest of the hill.  Both birds are typically much further back from the road than one would expect based on the strength of their songs.  They sing quite a bit in the morning and the evening.

Happy Birding,

Henry & Deb Mauer
Harpswell, ME

[Maine-birds] Henslow's Sparrow

What an amazing evening with the Henslow's Sparrow!! Started singing minutes after arrival and then he flew right towards us and dipped down at the base of the shrub 20ft from us. Popped back up and put on a show of song and looks that couldn't be beat. At one point he made a chip note I hadn't heard before several times. This was the best looks I've had in my 4 visit to see him and the colors on his wings were amazing such an array of deep reds browns and tans. His chest had the faintest buff on it reminiscent of a Lincoln's Sparrow but so very faint. The books do not do this bird justice. 45 min of just the bird and ourselves I think it helped we were fairly quiet and still. A day I'll never forget.

[Maine-birds] cowbird parasitizes warbler

I just wanted to share:
I watched a chestnut sided warbler eagerly feed a cowbird kid.
I couldn't believe my eyes, but was able to confirm these sightings actually a few times.
Nature is amazing and I am so glad that I was able to watch them.
