29 visitors today.
Weather:
Mostly cloudy skies all day along with a steady breeze from the SSE kept conditions on the cooler side. Temperatures only scraped 50 degrees. Visibility was pretty good and improved later in the count.
Raptor Observations:
Winds likely kept our numbers on the low side today but I can't be certain that birds weren't being pushed further inland before reaching this far north. Again today, like yesterday many birds were coming at the mountain from the W and even NW at times, quartering into the wind. It was fairly slow today but we had a nice look at our local Cooper's Hawks. The last three hours of the day amounted to a big goose egg.
Non-raptor Observations:
Very little activity for northbound birds and birds around the summit. The highlight was a visit by 7 Cedar Waxwings which stayed around for a few minutes in the Oak trees right on the summit. Only a measly 20 species were seen or heard.
Predictions:
Tomorrow looks gross, honestly. There is a chance of rain and then rain likely in the afternoon along with higher winds from the ESE. Temps may only be in the mid 40's. If rain holds off maybe we can get in some counting and maybe birds will try to move out ahead of the wet weather. Will they fight the ESE winds to avoid the rain or hunker down?

[Maine-birds] Blue-winged Warbler
A single Blue-winged Warbler fed briefly off a suet cake on our feeder late this afternoon. It's the second time I've found this species on our property in Nobleboro. The first was probably 30 years ago, and about the same time of year. Overflying migrants I suspect, since this species is common farther south.

Visitors:
The park was busy but not too many people stopped by the count. At one point in the morning I counted 57 people at the summit. 9 official visitors
Weather:
Cloud cover pushed out during the morning hours, leaving brilliant blue skies. Later in the afternoon was a mix of clouds and sun. Temps stayed on the cooler side today, only getting into the low 50's. Winds stayed relatively light and were variable at the summit. The afternoon had steadier ESE and SSE ocean breezes.
Raptor Observations:
This turned out to be a better day than expected. Birds were on similar flight paths today. Most of our time was spent facing W and NW with many birds heading directly overhead. In the afternoon breeze we were getting some Broad-wings coming at us from the NW. For some reason we counted more Coops than usual. I hope our local bird wasn't making high passes back and forth. In the mid afternoon a very dark and relatively small and flat winged bird came at us in a glide from the W. It was a second Black Vulture for the season. The lighting wasn't the best but it was good enough to see plumage coloration and patterns.
Non-raptor Observations:
Still not much to report. The summit was pretty quiet all day. Nice views of a Palm Warbler in the morning light added a little color to the landscape. 23 species were seen or heard today.
Predictions:
Tomorrow looks like it will be similar to today with clouds and sun and less than ideal winds from the ESE with possible gusting in the afternoon. There is rain in the forecast but I'm not sure it is close enough to affect the flight tomorrow.

[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights, 4/15-21
Hi all,
For several years I have been posting my sightings each week on a blog, and sharing those links here. In January, I had shoulder surgery, and with birding limited to outside my window (which was quite productive) for quite some time, I didn't bother posting here as nothing particularly rare showed up. With spring arriving and my birding slowly ramping up, it's probably time to start posting here again, so I will try to remember to do so.
My observations of note were limited this week, but I'll try and get back in the habit. Here's the report:
