A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD has been coming to a feeder in Port Clyde since 31 October. It is an adult female, so the identification wasn't immediately known, but photos taken yesterday of the bird in flight were diagnostic. Today, 3 November, Scott Weidensaul visited and was able to band the bird. The homeowner, Alex Brasili, is willing to all visitors to her yard at 787 Port Clyde Road with the following requests: Please limit visitation to between 9AM and 3PM. Park in front of the garage, on the right at the top of the driveway. Be mindful while driving up that there is an older, very friendly dog on the property who "isn't always aware of cars." People are welcome to view the feeder, hanging from the south corner window, from the front lawn by the well house, or there are a couple of chairs and a table set out. On that table is also a guestbook that Alex and her partner Justin would appreciate people signing. I've set up a stakeout hotspot in eBird for this location and please consider copying this access information into your eBird lists so everyone knows these rules.
