[Maine-birds] Timber Point - Northern Water Thrush ,Warbling Vireo

Today's highlights include:
- Least Tern with fledglings
- Willet & chicks
- Northern Waterthrush
- Warbling Vireo

First posting here but have read the group posts for quite a while. We are volunteering at Timber Point in Biddeford, a newly acquired (12/2011) parcel of the Rachel Carson NWR. This section of the refuge is a unique habitat in that it includes several fresh water marshes, a protected beach area great for shore birds, salt marsh (both sharp-tailed sparrows), a mixed mature forest, meadows, a rocky coastline, views out to the open water (N. Gannets spotted last week) and the mouth of the Little River (Tern feeding frenzy at low tide)! All that on a 100 acre parcel that is easily accessible on a brand new trail!

Our total bird count since July 1 for this section of the refuge stands at 86.

From Hummers to Eagles to Ibis to Thrashers - they all have a place here.

We have a Bird Walk (and other flying creatures) every Friday at 8 a.m.
Come check it out and join us!
