Three BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were seen at the Tuckahoe Turf Farm off Hubbard Road in Berwick on the 9th.
Banding efforts on Stratton Island continue to turn up YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS with one on the 4th and 5th, two on the 8th, and one more on the 9th bringing the island up to 13 for the fall.
On the 4th, three adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen along Laudholm Beach in Wells. Two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were photographed in Wells on the 9th.
East Point Sanctuary at Biddeford Pool hosted a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT on the 3rd. A pair of CASPIAN TERNS was seen on the flats in the pool area on the 6th. And on the 9th a WESTERN SANDPIPER was photographed along the beach.
Two ORCHARD ORIOLES were reported from Proctor Road in Biddeford on the 8th.
A STILT SANDPIPER was seen on the 4th at the Sanford Sewerage District, which is at the end of Gavel Road, off Route 4 in Sanford. Visitation is limited to 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. M-F and 7-8:30 a.m. only on the weekend.
Greater Portland
A LARK SPARROW was found in front of the Bishop Street gate to Evergreen Cemetery in Portland on the morning of the 3rd and was seen again on the 4th.
Highlights from the Scarborough Marsh this week included: up to 12 STILT SANDPIPERS, one AMERICAN GODEN-PLOVER, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, and three HUDSONIAN GODWITS.
Impressive morning flights continue from Sandy Point on Cousin's Island; on the 6th highlights included a single CONECTICUT WARBLER and DICKCISSEL. A birch and Red Oak have been replanted at the end of the point; bringing water to help keep the 'water bags' at the base of each tree full in appreciated.
Lewiston-Auburn
A WHITE-WINGED DOVE has apparently been visiting private feeders in Auburn throughout the summer. The homeowner was able to photograph the bird but public accessibility is yet to be determined.
Midcoast
On the 3rd a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was photographed at Popham Beach State Park. One LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and four FORSTER'S TERNS were seen here on the 7th. And on the 9th two CASPIAN TERNS were photographed throughout the morning.
Downeast
An AMERICAN PIPIT was reported from Cadillac Mountain and an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen at nearby Bass Harbor Marsh on the 7th.
A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was observed at a banding station on Schoodic on the 8th. A male hatch-year DICKCISSEL was banded on the 6th.
On the 9th a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was seen at Petit Manan NWR near the first parking lot on Petit Manan Road.
Western Mountains
The Fryeburg Harbor this week hosted up to 13 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS at the corner of Old River and McNeil Roads, also the SANDHILL CRANE continues to be seen in this area.
Northern Maine
A large flock of 23 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS was seen feeding in a field between Lake Josephine in Easton and Christina Reservoir on the 8th.
Also on the 8th, a juvenile COMMON GALLINULE was spotted in one of the lower ponds behind the McCain Foods plant near Lake Josephine.
