[Maine-birds] Buff-breasted SP and Golden Plovers Tuckahoe Turf Farm

Sunday (9/9) afternoon Ellen and I checked out Tuckahoe Turf Farm in Berwick where we observed 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, as many as 25 American Golden Plover, and a dozen Killdeer.  It took 45 minutes of searching before we found any shorebirds.  At first only the Killdeer were obvious.  Nearby we found the others the longer grass where they appeared to be wary of crows...ducking down whenever one flew by---not a head visible. Eventually 8 plovers came out with the Killdeer and were feeding in shorter grass.  Simultaneously another group of around 17 plovers flew up and circled the group in the open several times then disappeared behind a small hill.  Later this group circled again and disappeared.   Sporadic gunfire from a nearby shooting pit seemed to disturb the birds.  There was an Adult Bald Eagle circling in the far distance.
