[Maine-birds] Great gray Owl

I arrived at Sunkhaze at 9. Saw many birders driving about with no sightings. A little before 11AM I was on my way out of the refuge for a food break rounding a corner and there was the Great Gray!! Alone in silence I watched this marvelous owl for about 15 min before someone saw me. That was the end of that. As the crowd grew and grew I began to worry. But the owl was very accommodating. To me seeming unbothered by most of the people. Most remained fairly quiet but I must admit I left as more ppl showed. I felt a little worried for the owl, perhaps unwarranted. But those few precious minutes I got to enjoy in the unadulterated wilderness and the Great Gray Owl.
