Hello Maine Birders:
-- Bill Hancock and I met at Walsh Preserve in Freeport late morning to coincide with high tide. While it was fortuitous timing tide-wise, it was a bit challenging given the angle of light. I would like to return when high tide is in the afternoon, which should create a better angle of light for viewing. Regardless, the salt pans on the marsh along the Cousins River attracted a significant number and diversity of shorebirds. Perhaps the "best" species was Pectoral Sandpiper. I wouldn't be surprised if a Stilt Sandpiper was among the yellowlegs and dowitchers but we couldn't tease one out during our hot visit. Our full list can be viewed here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S195500926
Good birding,
Eric
