Re: [Maine-birds] Radical new wind turbine design

To save replies I will confess I didn't see the numbers re. the power generated;  read the article in small format after having minor surgery this morning and still apparently semi-hazy.  Glad for everyone's sake I wasn't driving while texting it in  ( ;

The astonishing part of that article was the statement that the stadium uses about 17 MILLION kilowatt hours per year. I mean, they don't have a game every night. Back on topic, it does look like it would be less dangerous for birds.

Saw this today.  These new wind turbines are as ugly as....well, giant plastic corkscrews...but to my eye they appear more bird-friendly (it looks like the birds would be far more likely to notice them and not fly into them).  And apparently they generate a good amount of electricity:
