[Maine-birds] Flurry at South Portland feeders

For about 15 minutes, after a brief shower,  around 3:30 pm I had a lot of activity at my feeders:

2 BC Chickadees

2 Tufted Titmice

4 Cardinals - two young ones

3 Eastern Bluebirds

7 House Finches

1 Purple Finch - female

3 Goldfinches

4 Blue Jays

7 White-throated Sparrows  (looked for at White-crowned - no luck )

5 Mourning Doves

2 White-breasted Nuthatches

2 Downy Woodpeckers

1 Hairy

2 Chipmunks

At one time, two woodpeckers and 2 Nuthatches were on the feeder pole waiting their turn at the suet log with one of each species on the log a couple of times - they do not usually share the log even tho it is big enough to accommodate two at a time as the nuthatch always hangs upside down at the very top to feed!  Neat to watch!

Earlier today - one male Rufous-sided Towhee made a brief appearance

Two days ago I saw 2 Brown Thrashers in the yard

Nice mix of birds
