Hi all,
Following up on Dan Nickerson's reports from yesterday, my Saturday Morning Birdwalk group and I dodged the raindrops by working the Androscoggin River from the Durham River Park upstream to Great Falls. About 80% of our waterfowl were along Rte 136 in Durham, where the high-tension wires cross the river. The following were some of our totals for the morning, of ducks and a few other migrants of note:
262 Canada Geese
220 Mallards
178 WOOD DUCKS
107 Ring-necked Ducks
88 American Black Ducks
62 Tree Swallows
39 Common Goldeneyes
20 Green-winged Teal
10 Common Mergansers
10 Hooded Mergansers
4 Eastern Phoebes
2 Northern Pintail
1 Belted Kingfisher.
