> Weather:
> A great day for spring hawk watching, and temperatures were above average
> for a change! Today periods of sun were mixed with periods of overcast
> skies. Winds from the southwest caused many migrants to take to the skies.
>
> Raptor Observations:
> The 2015 season had a new high count today for the year with 254 migrants.
> Ten species were recorded with large groups of Turkey Vultures moving in
> the morning. A new single day record was set for Turkey Vultures. The newly
> set record was 97 migrant Turkey Vultures. These vultures were in groups as
> large as 38. Smaller groups of Sharp-shinned Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks,
> and Red-tailed Hawks came by in the afternoon. Several Northern Harriers
> and American Kestrels came through in the late afternoon. Several local
> Bald Eagles were spotted as well.
>

> 42 species were observed from the summit today. Including FOY Belted
> Kingfisher, Eastern Phoebe, Hooded Merganser, Fox Sparrow, Northern
> Flicker, Chipping Sparrow; We also had 33 Bohemian Waxwings stop at the
> count site today.
> There were many non-raptor migrants today.

> Predictions:
> Rain is probable early tomorrow. After the rain clears, there may be a
> period before strong northwest winds begin to gust at 20-30 mph. Once
> strong NW winds begin chances of seeing migrants will be greatly decreased.
> The count will continue tomorrow at times when conditions are improved to a
> point when raptors could be flying. If there is a break between rain and
> high winds we will be counting birds!
