[Maine-birds] Benton - FOY - 2 kestrels returned

Two kestrels are back.  One at peak ridge of the big barn and the other
in the barn trapped by the light coming through the window. I opened the
two big 12' double doors for the kestrel to get out.

Barn swallow observation.

Most birds get trap in dark garages or barns focused on the light coming
through the windows rather than how they got in.  In contrast, barn
swallows have the ability to fly in and out of dark places with little
difficulty.  They usually do not get confused by the light from other
windows.  They can come in and out of open entrances and even exit by
different opening with ease.  Barn swallows seem to have no problem with
the high dynamic range in light intensity of going from light and dark
and the other way of going from dark to light.  A barn swallow can fly
in a window, fly around without hitting any obstructions such as hanging
ropes, dodging me, shelving, supporting beams, etc., find an opening,
and fly out with great easy and speed.  They can easily dodge these
objects even if they were placed there recently.

Enjoy the good weather.  /Allan
