[Maine-birds] Biddeford: GRAY KINGBIRD (12/4)...

Hi all,

After dipping on the GRAY KINGBIRD after work yesterday, I tried again
today with success. From 2:45-4pm, several other birders and I hung
out on the roadside where Lily Pond Avenue meets Fortunes Rocks Road
and watched the bird foraging nearly continuously for insects on the
piles of wrack near the boulder wall. On more than one occasion,
however, the kingbird took a short break from foraging and just sat
and looked around. And then, with a yawn-like motion, opened his bill,
stuck out his tongue, and flicked out a regurgitated pellet. And just
like that he was back to hunting.

At exactly 4pm, the kingbird flew up onto a boulder and then to an
overhead wire. At 4:02pm, he flew south toward Neptune Avenue. I
couldn't tell where or if he landed. Best of luck to those hoping to
see this fellow tomorrow.

Also, on Friday (12/3), while I missed the kingbird, I did see an
immature ICELAND GULL hanging out on the rocks at the south end of
Fortunes Rocks Beach.

Wildly,
