[Maine-birds] query about hawk-owls

So I was just thinking…

Every time I see a northern hawk-owl, it is teed up at the top of the tree where it would be an easy target for harassment by crows. Yet, I’ve never seen them bothered. Other owls would certainly be harassed. Has anyone ever seen crows hassle a hawk-owl? Is anyone familiar with any science that would explain why they are not viewed with concern by crows? I’m thinking it might make a nice newspaper column.
