[Maine-birds] Penjajawoc Marsh, Bangor, 10/14

I enjoyed the beautiful, very mild morning at Penjajawoc Marsh, walking along the rail bed from the BLT's Northeast Preserve. Warblers have all but cleared out from Penobscot County except for the expected Myrtles, Palms, and an increasingly thin number of Yellowthroats. That being said, I did still have a neotropical surprise with my first Red-eyed Vireo since September.

Sparrows are still everywhere. I've been seeing a good number of White-crowneds within the city limits the last week but dipped on them today. From most to least numerous this morning: Swamp, Song, White-throated, Savannah, and a single Nelson's Sparrow, which was a real treat to watch as it sunned in the open for a minute or two.

Other highlights included 7 Pectoral Sandpipers circling above the marsh after a Harrier made a pass and a banded Merlin hunting along the rail bed.

Good birding!
