[Maine-birds] Migration in full swing in Addison

We drove down to South Addison and encountered large mixed species flocks of sparrows (Song, Dark-eyed Junco, Tree, White-throated and Fox) as well as mixed flocks of blackbirds (Common Grackles, Red-winged and Cowbirds).  Lots and lots of American Robins.....

The Pleasant River still contains large ice floes and fantastically shaped ice sculptures along the shoreline!   We witnessed a huge migration of gulls (seen from the boat landing) - gulls on ice floes, ghulls in the snow-covered marsh and hundreds of gulls in kettles above us and to the south. Also, Bald Eagles were kettling in the area - 24 of them were in the air with the gulls.

A dozen Hooded Mergansers and 7 Ringed-neck Ducks were with the many Black Ducks, Canada Geese and Mallards.

Back home, lots of sparrows are at our feeders - for three days we've seen a partial albino Song Sparrow with a white crown which really stands out among its compadres.
