The open water on the Kennebec from the ice breakers has brought some early-spring birds to Gardiner There's complete ice cover upstream so there's a bottleneck of open-water birds right now. This evening saw:
15 Tree Swallows
2 Great Blue Heron
1 Double-crested Cormorant
12 Ringed-necked Ducks
2 Green-winged Teal
3 Wood ducks
4 Hooded Mergansers
20 Common Mergansers
